GO!

A few days ago, during my devotion, a passage of scripture I read almost plucked my eyes out of their sockets in amazement. I am speaking of 2 Kings 4:1 -6
4 Now there cried a certain woman of the wives of the sons of the prophets unto Elisha, saying, Thy servant my husband is dead; and thou knowest that thy servant did fear the Lord: and the creditor is come to take unto him my two sons to be bondmen.
2 And Elisha said unto her, what shall I do for thee? Tell me, what hast thou in the house? And she said, Thine handmaid hath not anything in the house, save a pot of oil.
3 Then he said, Go, borrow thee vessels abroad of all thy neighbours, even empty vessels; borrow not a few.

4 And when thou art come in, thou shalt shut the door upon thee and upon thy sons, and shalt pour out into all those vessels, and thou shalt set aside that which is full.
5 So she went from him, and shut the door upon her and upon her sons, who brought the vessels to her; and she poured out.
6 And it came to pass, when the vessels were full, that she said unto her son, Bring me yet a vessel. And he said unto her, there is not a vessel more. And the oil stayed.

Wow! Shall I paint this scenario as it would happen in the 21st Century? I could hear the man of God say – “Go, make a list of all the things that you desire, write their prices beside them as though you would be stepping out to purchase them in a few moments from now”. “Go, do the costing as at today, make a move beyond wishful thinking, just go!’
Yes, I understand your thoughts; you don’t know where the money will come from. You desire to buy a car, own a land, build a house, start a business, run an NGO, study abroad et cetera. I want you to know that the widow had the same concerns as you do right now, in fact, hers was a public affair because her neighbours got involved. They probably asked her why she was borrowing empty jars but they lent to her all the same.
… As I said, I didn’t complete the article but my experiences in the last 1 year completed it for me. I did exactly what I was trying to say in this article. Today, I have all the items that I penned down save only 2. I remember one Saturday afternoon, a church member who lives in my neighbourhood called me up to come pick up a refrigerator because she just purchased a bigger one. Guess what! Refrigerator was no. 9 on my list. I dare you to complete this article your own way.
